Oregon Trail School District

Comprehensive Guidance & Counseling Program

District Mission Statement

To provide a high quality educational system that inspires all students to actively pursue educational excellence and responsible citizenship.

Counseling Program Mission

Statement

The mission of the Oregon Trail School District’s Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program (CGCP) is to support each and every student to develop competence in the domains of academics, career exploration, personal/social growth and community involvement in order to be responsible, self-directed and contributing members of society. The CGCP program is an integral component of the district’s overall educational program, with developmentally appropriate services systematically delivered by the K-12 educational community.

Philosophy Statement

Oregon Trail School District believes that our comprehensive guidance and counseling program is an essential and integral part of our district’s educational program. We believe that guidance and counseling is critical for all students, in order to develop the necessary academic, career, personal-social, and community involvement required to succeed both in school and life.

We acknowledge that guidance and counseling is not a service offered by one person, but a planned developmentally appropriate program coordinated by the entire education community of the district.

Confidentiality in Counseling

Counselors will keep information confidential unless disclosure is required to prevent clear and imminent danger to the student or others or when legal requirements demand that confidentialinformation be revealed.
