Emergency School Closures

On those days when the weather or other emergencies threaten, please tune to one of your local radio or television stations or the district web site for school closure or schedule change information.

Emergency school closure is usually the result of snow and/or icing conditions. However, other types of emergency closures may result due to natural disasters or major mechanical failures at a given school.

Public information messages you may expect to receive are:
1. All district schools closed
2. All district schools 2 hour late start (this will automatically mean no AM Kindergarten, no AM CHIPS, and no breakfast served)
3. Single school closed
4. Single school 2 hour late start (no AM Kindergarten, no AM CHIPS, and no breakfast served)
5. AM Kindergarten held to ride PM buses
6. No PM Kindergarten
7. No after school or evening activities
8. All district closed ___ hours early, or closed at ___ PM
9. Single buildings closed ___ hours early, or closed at ___ PM

Transportation options may include:
* All buses on regular routes
* All buses on snow routes (if the entire district closes early for snow or ice, this will always be the case)
NOTE: snow routes are always full day (to and from school)
* Snow routes for specific schools
* Specific bus routes not run (this is rare, but may occur due to specific road conditions for a single route)

Early Dismissal Procedures

In the case of severe weather conditions or other unforeseeable events, one or more schools in the District may need to dismiss students early. In this case, the District will issue a media release, and school staff will make every effort to contact parents. District transportation will be provided to students, and school staff will ride the buses to further ensure student safety. Students being picked up by parents will be supervised until the parent arrives.
