Volunteering

Parents and other community members play an important role in the education of Oregon Trail students. Over the course of a given school year, over 1,000 volunteers will assume the role of tutor, classroom assistant, fundraiser, mentor, organizer, or advisor in one or more of our schools. Research has proven that student achievement increases with the assistance of an organized group of volunteers. But we don’t need statistics to convince us of the critical role our volunteers play. They’re considered part of our education team.

Every school in the Oregon Trail School District has a program through which parents and other community members spend time volunteering their services. With student safety our highest priority, the district board of directors has mandated that all volunteers working with children consent to a criminal history background check.
