The District encourages community use of district facilities and fields, subject to the rules and regulations outlined in Board policies. All use shall be consistent with our general educational purpose and shall not interfere with scheduled school programs or events. A fee is charged for renting a facility, and certain guidelines must be followed in order to make a reservation.

Peachjar Instructions for e-flyer approval
To have your flyer distributed electronically you must register with Peachjar as a Program Provider and upload your flyer for distribution to the desired school(s). Paper flyers from outside organizations will no longer be distributed at our schools.

Please follow these steps:

Select Program Providers
Create an account as a Program Provider
Upload your flyer for approval
Once you receive confirmation that your flyer has been paid for and submitted through Peachjar, it will be routed to the OTSD district office for review and approval or denial based on OTSD’s Guidelines for Information Distribution.
Organizations pay a small service fee to post and distribute eflyers (typically much less than the cost to copy and deliver paper flyers) if they charge for their program/service. The service fee also applies to activities that are held without charge, but may entice participants to join a fee-based program or purchase products or services.

OTSD Guidelines for distributing flyers to schools
Oregon Trail School District (OTSD) supports community-wide efforts to provide students and their families with information about resources and opportunities for young people. These guidelines have been developed to clarify procedures for requesting to distribute informational flyers to families via the Peachjar e-flyer management system.

All flyers are subject to the following criteria:

·       All flyers from organizations other than OTSD or our schools require approval from the district office. This includes all community organizations, clubs, and non-profits. Parent group organization flyers require approval from their school principal/designee for that school only. A parent group wishing to distribute their flyer to other district schools must gain approval from the district office.

·       All flyers to be distributed shall bear the name and contact information of the sponsoring entity.

·       The sponsoring entity must agree to a disclaimer stating they are a non-profit organization not affiliated with the Oregon Trail School District.

·       Grammar, spelling and punctuation must be correct.

·       Materials which have as their primary purpose the promotion or advertisement of a private or for-profit business, including childcare and tutoring, shall not be distributed through OTSD schools or Peachjar.

·       Flyers are required to include both English and Spanish translation. Flyers may have multiple pages, but should be submitted as one document. The organization will only be charged for one flyer.

·       Approval of a flyer may take up to five (5) working days.

 

Policy KJA: Materials Distribution

ATHLETICS INFORMATION:

Dear Parent/Guardian and Students:

Thank you for showing interest in participating in the middle school athletic program.  We strongly encourage all students to participate regardless of skill level and are committed to providing a positive experience for all athletes that participate. Please read each section carefully:

Eligibility: In order to be eligible to participate in any sport each student must:

• Have an athletic physical on file with the Administration: Physical-Form
• Complete “Athletic Clearance” form: Insurance-Clearance ; Insurance-Clearance-Spanish
• Complete “Code of Conduct” form: Code-of-Conduct ; Code-of-Conduct-Spanish
• Complete insurance information form or purchase school insurance. Please note school insurance is available.
• Have the $55 athletic fee paid and have no outstanding athletic fees.
• Earn C’s or better in all classes.
• Be in attendance all day unless a pre-arranged absence has been scheduled.

Team Selection:
Oregon Trail Middle Schools has a “no cut policy.”
All students who are eligible may participate in games.
Playing time is at the discretion of the coach.

Supervision and Transportation:
Practice will be from 3:30- 5:00 p.m every day. (Unless otherwise set by the coach). Rides should arrive no later than 5:15 p.m. to transport students home. Supervision will only be until 5:15 p.m. during practice.
There will be ONE-WAY transportation to away competitions except designated on the schedule. It is the responsibility of the parents/guardians to arrange a timely return trip home from games.

Practice Attendance and Attire:
Students must attend practice every day they are in attendance at school or they will be benched for a portion of the next game.
If your student will miss practice due to a pre-scheduled appointment please notify the coach in writing prior to the absence.  If student misses practice due to a sudden emergency please notify the coach A.S.A.P
Students should bring clothing to be prepared to practice in all weather conditions including wet, cold, and warm weather.

Sportsmanship:
Students are expected to display good sportsmanship both on and off the court/mat/field.  Any exhibit of poor sportsmanship will result in an apology letter and a game suspension.
Spectators are expected to set an example of good sportsmanship as well.  If a spectator is disruptive during an event he/she will be asked to leave.

2019 WMS Volleyball Schedule

7th & 8th grade girls are invited to join volleyball in the fall. Practice for this fun team sport begins in late summer. All home games are played in Welches middle school gym. The girls are divided into two teams – 8th grade & 7th grade. Depending on the participation numbers, the 7th grade team may open up to 6th graders as well. This can result in some 7th graders playing up to the 8th grade team.

Boys Wrestling

6th, 7th & 8th grade students are invited to join this intense physical sport. Welches students join with students from Cedar Ridge & Boring Middle Schools to form one Sandy Wrestling Team. Our students are transported to Boring Middle School every day for practice and meets. Transportation is one-way only.

As a private, independent, voluntary organization, our funding is not related to the budgeting process of the Oregon Trail School District. We strive to provide a variety of educational opportunities that are simply not available to students at the current time.

Foundation board members are volunteers, and unlike the education foundations in some communities, we have no paid staff. Virtually every penny of your tax-deductible contribution will be used for education programs, not overhead or management.
