Addressing enrollment growth and facility maintenance
-
As stewards of our community's schools, the Oregon Trail School District Board of Directors understands the importance of maintaining the community's investment in our facilities and campuses. That stewardship includes on-going faciity assessment to help forecast future needs and provide quality learning spaces for students.
Since December 2017, the district has engaged in review and discussion of student enrollent growth, school capacity, education adequacy, student safety, and facility maintenance needs.
* December 2017: A population study by PSU forecasts substantial student enrollment growth over the next ten years.
* September 2018: A facility assessment by McKinstry provides a review of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing, exterior envelope, and interior finishes and systems at OTSD’s schools. The most consistently observed deficiencies were due to the age of the buildings, systems and equipment.
* Fall 2019: A long-range facility plan by Soderstrom Architects assesses each school's capacity and educational adequacy.
