Last week, Josh Kanable's Environmental Science class at Cedar Ridge Middle School took a field trip to the Bull Run watershed. Kanable noted that students sampled water temp at various depths, tested water turbidity levels and had a barefoot walk through the woods.
Seventh grader Jorge Hernandez said, "My favorite part was walking in the forest and seeing a newt! I learned all the processes that water goes through on the bus. I really liked seeing the size of the dam and the reservoir. Testing and comparing the turbidity of the water was also very fun."

Seventh grader Walter McCarville said, "I enjoyed taking some pictures of wildlife and the tree stump that was 350 years old when it fell. Also, learning that the roots make a net underground to hold soil."
Seventh grader Kylan Burfitt said, "My favorite part of the Bull Run was doing samples to test the turbidity of the water at different levels. I thought it was super cool how soft the ground was on the hike when we took off our shoes."
