Students in Tracy Rock's Food Science class at Boring Middle School have explored much of what goes into the production of food, but they dove a little deeper on Thursday, Feb. 26 with a visit to Ever Fresh Fruit Company (plus there were ice cream samples).
The students enjoyed an opportunity to learn directly from experts about real-world food science and aspects of the industry such as distribution, logistics, marketing, accounting, workplace safety and more. They also learned about the reach and impact of this local business, which processes more than 2 million pounds of fruit each year out of its facility in Boring, and whose products can be found in a range of items in almost every grocery store.
