Kelso Quilt Celebrates America's 250th Birthday

Posted Date: 05/15/26 (05:00 PM)

First grade students at Kelso Elementary had a special presentation in April, when Janelle Wren brought in a quilt featuring fabric squares the students had made earlier in the school year. The students, in Mrs. Haney's and Mrs. Haga's classes, created the squares with images of the Statue of Liberty, the Liberty Bell, bald eagles and the American flag to celebrate 2026 marking the 250th anniversary of America. Janelle and her mother took the swatches and made the quilt over spring break, and the result of their combined efforts will now be on display at Kelso Elementary for everyone to enjoy.
